Bodycote pens eight-year deal with aviation group

SPECIALIST engineering group Bodycote,  the world’s largest thermal processing services provider,  has agreed a long-term deal with a major manufacturer of aircraft landing and braking systems.

Financial terms of the the Macclesfield-headquarted company’s eight year deal with Messier-Bugatti-Dowty,  (Safran Group), were not disclosed.

Under the agreement, Bodycote will provide thermal spray coating services for major commercial and military airframe component programs, including the Boeing 787 and Airbus A350.

In a statement Bodycote said: “Thermal spray coatings are used to prolong the working life of critical components and provide in-service protection from factors such as abrasion, temperature and wear.

“Bodycote’s core business is to provide services that protect and improve the properties of metals and alloys. This in turn improves the material properties of components, extending their operational life and making them safer. The company plays a vital role in the aerospace supply chain.”

Bodycote operates at more than 190 locations in 26 countries.
