William Hague to consider teaching role

WILLIAM Hague is considering going into teaching when he retires from politics after the general election in May.

Mr Hague, a former Conservative leader and foreign secretary for four years until July, told TheBusinessDesk.com he was “not making any commitments” but was interested in lecturing at several universities and planned to get involved with some businesses.

He would also like to write more books having already published biographies of William Pitt the Younger and William Wilberforce.

He said: “I’m not making any commitments. I will write books again, teach a little bit at one or two universities, and there are one or two business things.”

He would not give any further detail. Mr Hague, currently leader of the House of Commons, was in Manchester on a tour of the region with North West Conservative MEP Sajjad Karim.

On Europe Mr Hague said: “We can only make a prediction when we’ve negotiated. I do believe it’s possible to have an improved relationship. Making the EU more democratically responsible and accountable is necessary for the whole of Europe. It’s not just what Britain needs, it’s what the rest of Europe desperately needs for Europe to progress.”
