More than 300 jobs go at Bolton kitchens firm

MORE than 300 jobs have been lost at a Bolton kitchen distribution company, which has gone into administration.

Mark Two, which previously supplied Tesco, axed 137 staff working at its home selling division this week, shortly before appointing administrators from Duff & Phelps.

Since the appointment of the administrators a further 196 redundancies have been announced.

Duff & Phelps said in a statement: “A purchaser could not be found for the remaining logistics business and regrettably, 196 redundancies were made. The 17 remaining employees are assisting the Joint administrators to identify and sell the assets of the company.”

In the year to the end of December 31 Mark Two Distributors made a pre-tax loss of £3m on sales of £41.1m, down  13.6% on the previous year.

According to company records its parent company is Burnley-based Ultra Finishing Ltd.
