Hong Kong developer eyes resi market

HONG KONG developer G-Suite Holdings is planning several major residential schemes after acquiring buildings in Manchester and Liverpool.

It has bought No 2 Moorfields, on the corner with Dale Street, and 35-37 Dale Street in Liverpool, as well as the historic Warwick Mill in Middleton and the neighbouring London House.

The former 64,000 sq ft office block in Moorfields already has permission to be converted into 136 apartments and G-Suite is planning more apartments in Dale Street. The Middleton buildings could be converted into 300 units as part of a £70m scheme aimed at Asian investors.

Fergal O’Cleirigh, head of Bermans’ property department, said: “Property companies such as G-Suite are vital to continue the regeneration of Liverpool by reviving landmark buildings such as these and bringing them back to life.

“In addition to the acquisitions in Liverpool we also advised on G-Suite’s purchase of Warwick Mill in Middleton Manchester which together with the adjoining property London House is the subject of a £70m project to convert the properties into 300 units to provide a base in the UK for businesses from the Far East. This is fantastic news for the North West economy as these key acquisitions will attract significant overseas investment to the area.”

G-Suite, which has an office in Manchester, also owns Cardinal Court in Oldham which it recently acquired for residential development.
