Deals round-up: Pinsents, Altium, GT & more

A MANCHESTER corporate team led by office head and partner Helen Ridge at law firm Pinsent Masons advised Amec Foster Wheeler on its acquisition of oil and gas services company Scopus.
 
Based in Aberdeen, Scopus is a laser scanning, dimensional control and lean engineering company whose precise survey data is used to engineer piping and structural solutions for the global oil and gas industry.
 
The Pinsent Masons team was led by corporate partner Helen Ridge and assisted by Amie Norris.
 
Helen Ridge said: “Clearly this is a period of transformation for UK hydrocarbons. Technological innovation is front and centre of this transformation as maximising recovery in the UKCS is critical to the future of the North Sea industry.
 
“Oil and gas services businesses are critical to the success of the industry and deals such as this represent a bright future for UKCS.”

A TEAM from investment bank Altium in Manchester advised German private equity firm Castik Capital on its acquisition of West Midlands-based water cooler company Angel Springs.
 
Based in Wolverhampton and operating from 10 delivery depots, Angel Springs rents out bottled and point of use water coolers to an installed base of more than 46,000 bottled water coolers and 14,000 point of use water coolers in the UK.
 
Altium provided both M&A and debt advice to Castik Capital. The team comprised Phil Adams, Paul Lines and Tom Battersby, in addition to Richard Clark, managing director of Altium’s debt advisory team.
 
Phil Adams, chief executive of Altium, said: “Angel Springs is one of the UK’s leading water cooler companies, and with Castik’s backing and long-term mindset, will go from strength to strength in the next few years. It has been exciting to be a part of the process and we look forward to partnering with the team in the future.”

Castik replaces another private equity firm, LDC, as Angel Springs’ investor.

GRANT Thornton acted for Lincolnshire-based Eco Plastics in its recent sale to Aurelius, a German listed business.

The Grant Thornton advisory team included David Riley, Mark Blackman and Anthony Yu, whilstthe Manchester office of Addleshaw Goddard, including partner Ged Barnes, Sarah Foster and Andrew Maskill were also involved the transaction.

A TEAM at Deloitte in Manchester led by transaction services partner Jodi Birkett provided vendor due diligence to property group Eddisons which has been acquired by the listed Manchester company Begbies Traynor.
