In Brief: Out at Work top 50; Positive Cashflow; Brother & more

TWO Liverpool business figures, councillor and former Lord Mayor Gary Millar and DWF lawyer Paul Maddock,  have made the top 50 most influential LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) people in business and enterprise.

Cllr Millar, who co-owns Parr Street Studios & Hotel and is Liverpool Council’s  cabinet Member for Business, Enterprise & Investment is placed at number 16 of the inaugural rankings, compiled by diversity and inclusion company Square Peg Media, while Maddock is ranked 47.

Maddock founded and chairs DWF’s LGBT employee network, OutFront, and has organised events for them. He also reviewed the firm’s HR policies to help champion LGBT needs and has written articles on diversity.

Topping the list was Antonio Simoes, chief executive at HSBC UK.

ROCHDALE company Decorative Agents (UK) has secured a £40,000 facility from Manchester based, invoice finance specialists Positive Cashflow Finance.

Managing director, Lea Wrest has over 20 years’ experience in the painting and decorating sector and set up the company in September 2012 supplying a wide variety of decorating sundries such as paint brushes, dust sheets and roller sleeves. His client base is made up of painting contractors, schools, colleges and a wide variety of decorating businesses.

The deal with Positive will allow the company to invest in stock and improve its IT infrastructure.

THE Crowne Plaza Manchester City Centre Hotel won the award for “Large Hotel of the Year” at the annual LateRooms ‘Simply The Guest Awards’, the UK’s only hotel awards based purely on 100% genuine guest reviews.

Other winners included the Radisson Blu at Manchester Airport in the best airport hotel category.

The award recognises world-class best practice and the highest standards of people management and development.
