£7m deaf centre scheme set for green light
PLANS to demolish and rebuild the Merseyside Society for Deaf People (MSDP) centre with additional retail units on Queens Drive in Liverpool in a £7m scheme have been recommended for approval.
The proposal is to erect a three storey block comprising a mixed community and education facility and retail units for M & S Simply Food and Aldi, with the creation of more than 100 jobs projected.
The site comprises land and buildings on Queens Drive close to the junction of Mill Lane.
Included in the 0.86 hectares scheme is a car park with 120 spaces – the majority of which would serve the retail units – and cycle park areas.

Documentation which will go before the councillors said the application had been “screened” and it would have “no significant environmental” impact.
The replacement MSDP is projected to be 12 metres in height with the retail units will be six metres high.
Operating hours for the units would be 7am to 11pm from Monday to Friday and on Saturdays and Sundays, 9am to 6pm.
