Team appointed to deliver mixed-use masterplan

A TEAM of regeneration experts is set to deliver one of Greater Manchester’s largest mixed-use schemes.

Wigan Council and Peel Investments have appointed Hyder Consulting, along with GVA and Randall Thorp, to plan and submit an outline planning application for an area of land South of Hindley in Wigan.

The project will include the submission of outline plans for up to 2,000 new homes, 13 hectares of employment uses, a new east-west link road, supporting community uses, public open space and infrastructure of land identified as a broad location for development within the Adopted Wigan Core Strategy

It is envisaged that the masterplan and subsequent planning application will realise significant benefits for the local community including local job opportunities, provision of community infrastructure, and environmental enhancements.
