Appointments: New partners for GT and Trowers & Hamlins & more

BUSINESS advisers and accountants Grant Thornton have promoted Paul Scully, a specialist in international tax, to partner.
Scully, who is based in Manchester, joined Grant Thornton’s international and large corporate tax team as a director in August 2010. He has extensive experience of providing advice to large corporations in relation to both domestic and international tax matters.
Scully a Cambridge graduate, trained in the UK but has also worked in New Zealand.

LAW firm Trowers & Hamlins has appointed David Vayro as a partner in its projects and construction team in Manchester.
He joins from Gateley, where he was also a partner.
Stephanie Canham, national head of projects and construction at the firm said: “David’s hire comes in direct response to client needs and enables us to further expand the range of services and expertise that our national construction team can offer from our Manchester base.”

CHESHIRE-based Encirc Beverages, has boosted its senior team with the appointment of a new general manager to oversee operations and develop customer relations at its plant in Elton.
John Hawkins, who has more than 20 years’ experience in the beverages industry, joins Encirc from pan-European soft drinks manufacturer, Refresco Gerber, where he spent six years as contract manufacturing director.
He said: “Encirc is a successful business with a long-standing reputation for delivering high quality bottling products and solutions. Beverages is a key part of Encirc’s unique proposition and adds significant value to the offering. The facilities at Elton are world class and I’m looking forward to working with the team as we continue to develop these and realise even greater achievements in the future.”

WARRINGTON-based Procurement for Housing (PfH) has made three new senior appointments.
Leisa Hewitt joins as PfH’s new procurement director. She previously worked as head of procurement and supplies at University Hospital of South Manchester. She has also worked for British Transport Police, Manchester Primary Care Trust and Jarvis Rail.
Magnus Walker has been appointed to the newly-created role of head of energy services. He used to work as head of trading for the Government Procurement Service with responsibility for purchasing wholesale electricity and gas.
North of the border, Ian Taylor has joined Glasgow-based PfH Scotland as head of operations.
PfH provides procurement services and framework agreements to over 900 social landlords in the UK social housing sector, managing just under £4m of spend every week.
