Appointments: 13th partner for Cowgill Holloway; CBRE & more

ACCOUNTANCY and business advisory firm Cowgill Holloway has promoted Rob Lord to partner for business development.

Lord, who was previously director and head of business development at the firm, becomes Bolton-based Cowgill Holloway’s first ever Partner with responsibility for business development and marketing. He joined the firm in August 2009 from Clearwater Corporate Finance.

Since his arrival, Lord has led the firm’s new business development, brand awareness and overall marketing strategy, a period which has seen Cowgill Holloway increase turnover and become one of the UK’s top 60 accountancy firms.

Managing partner of Cowgill Holloway Paul Stansfield said: “Rob has made a significant contribution to the growth of Cowgill Holloway over the last five and a half years and has been an integral part of our success.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to recognise his contributions by making him a partner in the firm. I am delighted that he will have the opportunity to continue building on his considerable strengths in his new role and I am pleased that his efforts to date have been acknowledged in his promotion.”

Lord’s promotion takes current partner numbers at Cowgill Holloway to 13. The firm, which has offices in Bolton, Manchester and Liverpool, employs 120 staff.

KATHERINE Noden has joined Manchester commercial property firm CBRE as management surveyor.

Noden obtained MRICS status in October 2014 and has joined the company from her previous role as estates surveyor for investment firm, In-Site Property Solutions.

CBRE’s North West Asset Services team secured more than 25 new instructions in 2014, including Chancery Place, Manchester, appointed by NFU Mutual, Temple Square, Liverpool, (Hudson Capital Advisors), 45 Ranleigh Street, Liverpool (Boudelen) and Meridian Court, Bolton (United Utilities).

Noden’s appointment will take the team to 23 staff in the firm’s Manchester and Liverpool office in preparation for an equally busy year ahead.

ARCHITECTURAL, building surveying and planning consultancy Cassidy & Ashton has bolstered its senior team.

Susan McBain has joined the firm’s Chester office as a senior architect after spending 12 years at a local practice, where she worked on high-profile projects including the remodelling of Helsby High School and Cheshire County Council’s Sure Start Programme.

She said: “Cassidy & Ashton ticks all the right boxes for me, with a rich history and wealth of experience delivering projects across a variety of sectors and I look forward to getting my teeth into the business development side of things and securing some prestigious contract wins.”

CHARTERED surveyors Gerald Eve has appointed a new partner at its Manchester office as part of a recruitment drive which has seen the office in the city grow to 25 people.

Colin Harrop has arrived as a building consultancy partner, working closely with the national team to lead and develop Gerald Eve’s offer in the north of England.
 
Formerly at JLL, Harrop has expertise across a diverse range of disciplines and has previously been both a chairman of the Yorkshire & Humber Region of the RICS and a member of the RICS International Governing Council.

Harrop is the fourth recent partner appointment at Gerald Eve’s Manchester office, following the recruitment of Mark Walsh as head of the office and the arrivals in January of David Law and Jason Print as valuation and industrial agency partners, respectively.

ALTRINCHAM and Sale Chamber of Commerce has welcomed new president Zee Hussain at its annual lunch.

The event at the Belmore Hotel, Sale saw president of two years, Sue Aldridge, retire.

“It is an honour and privilege to take on the role of President and lead this historic Chamber,” said Hussain. “I believe there is lots of potential to further enhance and grow the Chamber, not least given our location and the development taking place in the area.”
