Top marks for Tute in takeover

WETEACH, a provider of online A-level courses, has been acquired by Tute Education (Tute), specialists in social education in schools and homes.

Tute bosses say the acquisition – brokered by Altrincham law firm Myerson Solicitors – reinforces the intention of the Wrexham-based company to be a leader in online teaching provision both in the UK and overseas.

The firm claims the acquisition marks another milestone in the evolution of Tute in expanding its portfolio and market reach.

Founder and chief executive Sean Gardner said: “We have long admired the focus and commitment of WeTeach in delivering high quality online teaching to A level pupils.

“They are an established, well-regarded business and their portfolio complements the existing activities of Tute perfectly, and reinforces our position as market leaders.”

Chairman of North Wales-based firm WeTeach David Black added: “We recognised the need to broaden our offering and routes to market to remain competitive in this burgeoning market.

“Tute is a business which is leading the way in social education across the UK and internationally, and we are extremely happy to be part of a larger organisation, and to be able to accelerate the growth and employment opportunities for both businesses.”

Myerson partner Scott Sands advised Tute on the acquisition. He said: “I have been acting for Tute for many years and seen the business go from strength to strength. The bolt-on of the WeTeach business reinforces its position in the education market.”
