Appointments: Speedy exit for new Hewden boss & more

HEWDEN, the Manchester-based national tool and equipment hire company has appointed Adrian Murphy as its chief executive.

Murphy joins the business from North West listed company Speedy Hire, where he was chief operating officer for less than a year, and before that spent six years at Hilti, including a three year stint as managing director. He replaces Kevin Parkes, who announced he was stepping down in December after five years.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining Hewden whose brand and tradition is so well recognised across the Industry. I look forward to meeting and working with my new team to further develop the business.”

Hewden is backed by US private equity firm Sun Capital.

DELOITTE Real Estate has revealed that director John Cooper will be head of the regions planning team in June, taking over leadership from Graham Stock.
 
Cooper has been a member of the Deloitte team for 17 years, having been instrumental in the transition from Drivers Jonas to Deloitte Real Estate. His specialism is in regional centre and major regeneration projects and he leads strategic planning for the real estate team.  
 
Graham Stock is retiring from the firm at the end of May and from his role as North West partner and Head of the Regions Planning team.  He will be pursuing personal business interests in the cycling sector.
 
Cooper said: “My new role at Deloitte Real Estate will mark an exciting new milestone in what continues to be a motivating and rewarding experience with the business. I’m looking forward to working closely with others in the wider Deloitte team to deliver more landmark projects for the North West over the coming years.”

PROPERTY advisers Cushman & Wakefield has bolstered its northern out of town retail team with the appointment of Henry Martin as a senior surveyor.

Based in Manchester Martin,  who previously worked for C&W’s London office, will be working with partner Andy Hall.  The out of town retail team, which covers all the regions in the north, acts on behalf clients including Peel, Crown Estates, Land Securities and M&G.

CREWE-based  housing association Wulvern has appointed Lisa Connor as a growth manager.

With over 20 years’ experience in housing and development, Connor has worked for some of the top registered social landlords in the region, most recently Manchester-based Great Places Housing Group where she was development manager.

Wulvern is a lead investment partner with the Homes and Communities Agency and is delivering more than  1,000 affordable homes by March 2018 across Cheshire.  Connor will manage this development programme to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.

ALEX Lund has been appointed as trading manager for Cheshire-based Brands Solution, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of branded fast-moving consumer (FMCG) products to the retail sector.
 
The appointment is part of Brands Solution’s strategy to broaden its product portfolio as it continues to grow its presence in the UK and international marketplaces. 

Lund joins the business from Intamarque where he worked as a senior business development manager with responsibility for handling UK multiple accounts as well as developing exports globally. 

The appointment also sees Brands Solution open new offices in Cheltenham to cover the UK’s southern region as well as an opportunity to further develop its presence in the household and health and beauty sector.
