Affordable seaside homes to replace Kwik Save

A FORMER supermarket site in Lytham St Annes on the Fylde coast is to be transformed into 15 new build homes for affordable rent in an investment worth about £1.4m.
Designed by Kirkham-based Croft Goode Architects, the scheme, which is being developed by Great Places Housing Group, will turn the former Kwik Save site into new homes, each with gardens and off-street parking.
The 12,000 sq ft site will contain a mixture of two and three-bedroom properties on St David’s Road South. The plans were approved unanimously at the Fylde planning committee in January and building work is due to commence in March with a finishing date in Spring 2016.
Great Places chief executive Matthew Harrison said: “Our development on this brownfield site will provide some much-needed new, spacious and affordable properties in the area.
“We held a successful community consultation event and designed the scheme with Croft Goode to meet the high architectural quality of the area in a contemporary way; the properties are all classed as Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3, which means residents will benefit from lower energy and water bills.”
Croft Goode director, David Croft, added: “The designs reference the seaside location of St Anne’s and include features that are a contemporary interpretation of building types and detailing found along the St David’s Road frontage.”
