Event to champion gender equality

TOP politicians and some of the region’s leading businesswomen are taking part in a major event this week.

The Northen Power Women conference at Liverpool’s Hilton Hotel will look at ways to close the gender pay gap and equlaity in the workplace,  showcasing the strength and depth of female business talent in the

Speakers are: Jo Swinson, Minister for Women, employment minister and MP for Wirral West  Esther McVey, the MP for Wirral West,  Karen Hubbard, chief operating officer of Liverpool-based discount retailer B&M Retail and Ali Gayward, UK commercial manager at easyJet.

Simone Roche, founder of the campaign and event organiser, said: “The focus has been London-centric and by changing the geography and the voices Northern Power women aims to unleash the economic power of women in business ‘up north’.

“Gender balance needs to be achieved through business driving change within their corporate structures or women growing their own businesses. And we can only make these changes by working with men as agents of change and equally the voices of our future talent – we cannot do it in isolation. This conference will be all about how we can take accountability for gender balance.”

The event takes place at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool on Thursday 12 March.
