Appointments: Hotel Gotham; Barburrito & more

HOTEL Gotham, the exclusive 60-bedroom hotel at the top of King Street in Manchester city centre has made a number of key hires ahead of its opening on April 7.

The latest arrivals are: sales manager Matt Miller, head chef Matthew Taylor, and operations manager Dulce Marques.
 
Managing director of Hotel Gotham Jeff Ward said: “We have been inundated with applications for prospective team members and spoilt for choice, with a really high quality of candidates.

“We are assembling a formidable team of staff, from some of the greatest hotels in the North West, and a few from very special places around the UK.”

EXPERIENCED finance professional Rob Bickerstaffe has joined Ludlow Wealth Management as a consultant.

Bickerstaffe, who has 20 years’ experience will also be responsible for expanding the group’s high net worth individual client base in the Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire regions as the firm hopes to reach £1bn of assets under advice within five years.
 
He lives in Bamford,  Rochdale, and will be based at Ludlow’s Blackburn office. He has previously worked for Barclays Wealth & Investment Management, Coutts & Co and was an area manager with Royal Bank of Scotland.

BARBURRITO, the Manchester-based casual dining business has boosted its senior team,with the arrival of Jim Bishop as head of property.

Bishop brings extensive acquisition and development experience to the Business Growth Fund-backed company with previous spells at Scottish & Newcastle, Barracuda, and Sainsbury’s. His primary focus will be new store acquisition but he will also oversee the broader property function.

Barburrito operates 11 sites across five cities and plans to grow the business to over 20 stores in the next two years. New stores will target high footfall locations including major city centres, shopping centres and travel hubs.

Chief executive Morgan Davies said: “With Jim on board as our new head of property, and with secured funds in place from The Business Growth Fund, we are now ready to ramp up our expansion plans. We put a lot of effort into recruiting the right person for this role and I am delighted that Jim has joined the team.”

Barburrito’s 12th restuarant will be in Cardiff and will open this summer.

CHESHIRE-based C&C Catering Equipment has appointed Jessica Kitchin as marketing executive.

She will work with marketing manager Glen Crossland, who said: “It’s great to have Jess on board. This means we can execute our marketing plans much more efficiently and broaden our activity too; we have lots of exciting plans and Jess will be a real asset to the business.”

PROFESSOR George Holmes has been appointed by HM’s Lord Lieutenant for the County of Greater Manchester as one of his deputies.

The Lord Lieutenant is Her Majesty The Queen’s personal representative in the County, and Professor Holmes will undertake official and ceremonial duties on behalf of the Greater Manchester Lieutenancy.

The new role for the vice chancellor of the University of Bolton follows on from his decision to relocate to the town.

Prof Holmes said he hoped the appointment would reflect his influential position in Bolton and Greater Manchester and his commitment to serving the local community and the university and to the wider community of Bolton and beyond.

“Being able to contribute to the work of Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant’s Office is a great privilege,” he said.”I feel honoured to have been chosen. I will do my utmost to properly discharge the duties laid upon me and to serve the community to the very best of my abilities”

The Right Revd Nigel McCulloch KCVO MA Cantab, chair of the Governing Body, said “I am delighted that the vice chancellor has been made a Deputy Lieutenant of Greater Manchester. This is further recognition of the significance of his contribution to Bolton and the county, and the increasingly influential role of the University of Bolton under his leadership within and beyond the local community.”
