The Contact Company buys Wirral office block

WIRRAL call centre firm The Contact Company has bought a 30,000 sq ft Grade A office block in Birkenhead for £3.1m.

The Queensgate building was completed in 2008 shortly before its developer Felton Construction went into administration. It was sold by Law of Property Act Receiver Parkin S Booth through agents at Knight Frank.

The £6m scheme was the first speculative office block to be built in Birkenhead for many years.

The Contact Company, which handles customer enquiries for several retailers and Liverpool Football Club, will move its 120 staff into the six-storey building close to the Queensway Tunnel and plans to recruit a further 250.

The business was founded in May 2006 by Asif Hamid, pictured, and Juliet Rhodes with 15 staff. Mr Hamid, chief executive, said: “The purchase of Queensgate will enable us to keep growing at pace whilst continuing to provide our clients with the best quality service available.  asif hamid, chief executive The Contact Company

“We are installing a state of the art telephony system and will continue to invest in our IT infrastructure and our brilliant staff to make sure this investment leads to further growth.”

The acquisition was backed with a seven-figure funding package from NatWest and Wirral Council has awarded a £250,000 grant to help cover fit-out costs.
