Ryanair warns on French strike impact

PASSENGERS travelling from Liverpool John Lennon and Manchester airports face disruption after Ryanair cancelled 250 flights across Europe because of a planned strike by French air traffic controllers.

The French Civil Aviation Authority (DGCA) were informed by the SNCTA union of air traffic controllers that a strike would take place on Wednesday and Thursday.

Ryanair has already cancelled 250 flights and said “further cancellations and delays are likely.”

The affected flights at Liverpool John Lennon are to and from Limoges; Barcelona El Prat; Faro (Algarve) and from Alicante, and from Manchester to and from Paris Beauvais; Alicante and Malaga.

Ryanair said: “It’s grossly unfair that thousands of European travellers will once again have their travel plans disrupted by the selfish actions of a tiny number of French ATC workers.

“All affected customers have been contacted by email and text message and advised of their options (full refund, free transfer onto next available flight or free transfer onto an alternative flight routing).”
