Quadruple contract win puts constructor on high

LANCASHIRE company Barnfield Construction has enjoyed a record April, winning four multi-million pound projects in one week.

The Nelson-based firm’s deals with increase projected 2015 turnover of £60m to £72m.

The first of the four transaction came to fruition after on-going discussions with existing tenant, BCW Engineering, were resolved.

Barnfield agreed a contract with BCW to reburbish an additional 30,000sq ft of industrial space for them at the former Michelin Tyre factory site.

This will increase BCW’s total premises to 90,000 sqft at Barnfield’s Innovation Drive development in Burnley, which they moved into at the end of last year.

At Barnfield’s latest business park in Salford, Solomon Commercial has committed to the first 20,000sq ft plot at Agecroft Commerce Park which Barnfield recently purchased for development from the HCA.

The investment will be split into four industrial units from 4,000sq ft and the space will be available to let later this year.

Continuing the success on the tendering side of the business, Barnfield were successful in their submission after a thorough tendering process with Trilanco, the UK’s largest animal health and equine products wholesaler.

Work will start on site in summer developing a new £5.5mn, 100,000sq ft distribution centre with 3 storey offices in Kirkham.

Barnfield also won a £1.3m contract to build their second Home Bargains Store in Liverpool.  Barnfield completed their first project in Burnley for the discount retailer just over a year ago.
