FINANCE specialist Academy Leasing has moved into larger premises to accommodate its growing workforce.

The company, based at Lowton near Wigan, has moved from offices at Stone Cross Court a larger two-storey 4,160sq ft facility at the same site.

“The move caps another successful year for us and is a key step in our strategy for accelerated growth and job creation,” said managing director Michael Nolan.

The company, which currently employs a 42-strong workforce, has recently recruited members of staff for its vehicle leasing, marketing and direct sales departments, including three new apprentices. Most recently David Lavin, formerly of Transac Solutions, has joined as direct sales Manager.

“We are anticipating ongoing growth in staff numbers over the next few years to meet client demand for our services and this attractive high-spec premises gives us room for further expansion,” added Nolan.

A LARGE Victorian villa, once belonging to one of the “merchant princes” of Manchester, is set to be brought back to life.

Transform Clinic, on the corner of Green Walk and The Firs in Bowdon, Cheshire, has been bought by Hardy Mill Properties and Real Estate investment Partnerships and a planning application has been submitted to restore it to residential use.

Plans for the property, which has most recently been used as medical consulting rooms is situated on one of the finest roads in Bowdon, are being drawn up by architect Ollier Smurthwaite.

REGIONAL Property Solutions has secured the renewal and a letting of two retail units on the popular parade of shops in south Manchester
 
Bargain Booze, has taken its franchise outlet at 340 Palatine Road, Northenden, in-house to be run as part of its portfolio management.

Terms have been agreed on a new 15-year lease for the 1,084sq ft shop at an initial rent of £13,600 per annum.

Northenden Dry Cleaners has secured its premises for a further 15 years at 328 Palantine Road. The 1,000sq ft unit has been let at an initial rent of £12,000 per annum.

The tenants were unrepresented.

BARRISTERS’ practice Exchange Chambers is relocating its Liverpool base to the second floor of One Derby Square in the city.

The company has taken a 10-year lease for the 12,000sq ft space and will complete the move in August.

Exchange Chambers, which also has offices in Manchester and Leeds, currently occupies the first floor of One Derby Square. By moving to the second floor, which overlooks the Queen Elizabeth II Law Courts, the practice says it will be able to offer a range of flexible accommodation options to its members.

A FIVE star hostel incorporating a bar, restaurant and live music venue in Liverpool has been bought by EuroHostel.

It has acquired the Hoax building on Standley Street in the Cavern Quarter freehold through national commercial property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH).

EuroHostel managing director William McClelland said: “We are delighted to have secured such a great hostel in a popular location in a great city. The business fits perfectly with EuroHostel’s growth plans within the UK.”
 
Hugh Anderson, from LSH’s hospitality team, said: “The strong interest in this investment demonstrates the growth of this specialist market sector, which targets the budget orientated traveller.”

CONTRACTORS have started work on a new £1.5m housing development in Cheshire which will boost the supply of family housing in Helsby.
 
The Cheshire Plains housing scheme is being built by Manchester-based Harbur Construction on behalf of Halebank Developments which will make the properties available for sale.
 
The 13-unit project is based on Lower Robin Hood Lane at the former site of the Robin Hood Hotel and will consist of one apartment and seven four-bedroom and five three-bedroom properties.
 
Christian Bury, chairman at Harbur Construction, said: “The start of construction work marks the transformation of the site which has stood derelict since the pub was demolished four years ago.”
