Building work on Spire’s new private hospital gets under way

THE construction of a new private hospital in the West Didsbury area of Manchester has begun.

Spire Healthcare’s state-fo-the-art development is due for completion in early 2017 and will be a flagship facility for the private hospital group.

The company says the hospital will be equipped to undertake a significantly enhanced range of services, including highly complex surgery and medicine through a large and fully functioning Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU) together with advanced diagnostic and imagery equipment.

The new hospital will also have hydrotherapy, a hybrid theatre and a 150 seat education centre.

Hospital director Chris Chadwick said: “Today marks the first step in the construction process for this flagship development, which represents a significant investment by Spire Healthcare.

“The new hospital will bring new Spire services to the people of Manchester and surrounding areas, plus a focus on research and education.

“We expect the new hospital to provide employment and economic benefits to the local area from this great new venture.”
