MANCHESTER-based JMW Solicitors has strengthened its commercial property team with the appointment of a new partner and senior associate.

Warren Martin joins JMW as a partner in the commercial property team from Boote Edgar Esterkin where he was a director and head of property. His clients include Lowry Capital Limited and Aldermore Bank.

Andrew Stone joins the team as a senior associate from Integrated Dental Holdings where he worked in-house as national estates manager. Andrew has previously worked in private practice at Burges Salmon and Land Law and he has particular experience in investment properties and portfolio management.
 
It has been a busy time for the property team at JMW who recently advised legal recruiter BCL Legal on the lease of several floors at Lancaster Buildings on Deansgate. The team has handled deals worth in excess of £500mn over the past year with significant schemes for developers such as Castlemead, Brookhouse, Dransfield and Pochins.

LAWYER Tristan Sands has been named the happiest person in the legal sector by one its recruiters.

Manchester-based Douglas Scott Legal Recruitment analysed data from almost 2,000 respondents across the profession and Sands, who works at Wilmslow, Cheshire practice Bott and Co, emerged the winner.

“I am both surprised and honoured to be named the Happiest Person in Legal by Douglas Scott!” said former Manchester Grammar pupil Sands, who graduated with a BA (Hons) in Philosophy from the University of Durham before studying at The College of Law in Chester.

PRIMAS Law, the specialist commercial and corporate firm, is marking its 18-month anniversary with the opening of a new Manchester city centre office and a senior hire.

LAW firm Forbes Solicitors has been selected to provide employment law advice to Leyland Trucks in Lancashire.

Forbes’ employment team in its Preston and Blackburn offices will advise the Leyland-based manufacturer, which has a workforce of about 1,000 and builds 50 vehicles a day for DAF as part of the global Paccar group.

CHESTER law firm Bartletts Solicitors has strengthened its personal injury and private client teams with the appointment of two new recruits, Hannah Lawrie and Jameela Yaqoob.
 
Lawrie has been appointed to the role of para legal working on the firm’s large case load of road traffic accidents, accidents at work, and public liability cases whilst Yaqoob is working within the conveyancing department as a legal assistant.
