SPORTS lawyer Matthew Chantler of Mills & Reeve has been appointed as official legal adviser at rugby league club, Leigh Centurions.
Chantler, a senior solicitor in the firm’s Manchester office, is a lifelong Centurions fan.
He said: As a Leigh lad and fan, I want the club to be as successful as possible and for it to achieve its aspirations of being in the Super League. I hope that my knowledge and experience of the sports industry, after advising the likes of the Professional Footballers’ Association, Premier and Football League clubs and international and Premier League players, including Angel Di Maria, on regulatory and legal issues will help the club go from strength to strength.”
Leigh Centurions’ chairman Michael Norris said: “We are always looking to add quality people to the leadership team at Centurions and Matthew brings something to the table which is very special – expertise and experience not just in general law but in the specialist field of sports law.
“Matthew offered his assistance a few months ago and we really appreciate what he has done for us so far, so when the opportunity arose for him to take up an official role it was a real no-brainer.”
