CALL answering specialist Moneypenny has unveiled plans for a new ultra-cool £15m headquarters in its hometown of Wrexham.

The family-owned company has hired  Manchester firn AEW Architects to design the 91,000 sq ft facility which includes a treehouse, a village pub and a triple height 8,000 sq ft atrium with a restaurant and stadium seating.

Built on a 10-acre plot it also features nature trails, orchards, vegetable gardens and open views over the surrounding countryside.

Ed Reeves, co-founder and director of Moneypenny, has led the project. He says: “We’re thrilled to unveil the designs for our new headquarters. This marks the start of an exciting new stage for Moneypenny and we’re confident it will be one of the most advanced buildings of its kind in the UK.”

Reeves,  who describes the development as “10 acres of dreamland”,  said he wanted to “rip up the rule book” in terms of design.

Dave George, associate director of AEW, said: “For Moneypenny, we have been very lucky to work with a forward-thinking client who wanted their new HQ designing from the inside out, which bucks the trend of institutional, ‘typical’ shell, core and uniform floorplates. The building is designed around the fundamental principal of placing staff welfare and client needs first.”

A number of other North West companies have been appointed to work on the development, including Pochin’s Construction and Avid Property Consultants in Cheshire, Cundall and Carolyn Willitts in Manchester, and Todd & Ledson Construction Consultants in Liverpool.

With space to house up to 1,000 staff who will be representing thousands of UK businesses, the development demonstrates a significant investment for the company and its clients.

The new campus will also be one of the most environmentally sustainable commercial projects in the country. By using rainwater recycling, solar energy, ground source heating and natural ventilation for climate control, the company aims to be almost entirely self-sufficient.

Work is expected to be finished on the development in spring 2016.
