Jobs growth in Liverpool soaring

LIVERPOOL saw the strongest jobs growth in England, soaring ahead of the national average last month.
This is according to independent job board CV-Library which reported vacancy postings for roles in the city rose by 50.9% in May, compared to same month in 2014, placing it ahead of the national average of 29.8%.
Liverpool job postings in May were 1,753, compared to 1,161 in 2014, and the city saw strong month-on-month growth of 24.2% with an additional 344 vacancies in May compared to April.
Managing director of CV-Library Lee Biggins said: “It’s exciting to see that job growth is being experienced in Liverpool, especially at a higher rate than the national average.
“All too often the South of the UK is seen as the hub of job opportunities, but with these recent statistics it’s encouraging to see that growth is being witnessed all over the Nation.”
The sectors with the highest growth were education – 227 jobs (12.9% of all postings), engineering – 198 jobs (11.2%), and medical – 194 jobs (11%).
The city’s top the industries with the highest number of job applications in May were administration – 4,256 (12% of all applications), engineering – 3,509 (10.4%) and sales – 2,986 (8.8%).
