MBNA invests in Apple Pay

MBNA has set up a training centre at its Chester base as it prepares to offer customers access to Apple Pay later this year.
Apple Pay, which allows customers to pay by scanning their iPhones over a key pad is set to transform mobile payments soon.
MBNA says it is making the move as one of the original pioneers of contactless payment techology. All its cards are now contactless payment-enabled.
MBNA’s parent company, Bank of America, was part of the original Apple Pay launch in the US in October.
MBNA chief executive Ian O’Doherty said: “At MBNA, our passion is to make our customers’ lives easier by investing in innovation.
“People are telling us they want new and innovative, as well as more secure and private, ways to pay. Apple Pay is another great example of how we?re investing in transforming payments for our customers.”
Apple Pay works with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch. When paying for goods and services within apps, Apple Pay is compatible with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3.
