Appointments: Banker takes new path; Cumbria LEP & more

FDC HOLDINGS, the Lancashire haulage and logistics firm, has added to its senior team with the appointment of a new finance director.

Chris Swarbrick, 41, joins FDC Holdings from Barclays Bank, where he was director running the corporate real estate finance team in Manchester.

In addition to the FD role, Chris will play a key part in FDC’s sister company Moorcot Property, which buys assets to satisfy the growing storage needs of FDC’s existing clients.

In a 15-year banking career Swarbrick has worked for Standard Chartered and RBS as well as Barclays.
 
He said “It has always been an ambition of mine to become more hands on in the growing of a successful organisation, and I feel that the continued rapid growth of FDC Holdings and its sister company Moorcot Property Limited offers me the perfect platform to fulfil my ambitions.”
 
FDC’s managing director Peter Allen added: ‘I have known Chris for a number of years and am delighted that we could attract him to join our ambitious businesses. A major attraction was his breadth of experience of funding large scale transactions across both trading and real estate businesses, which dovetails perfectly with our aspirations for FDC and Moorcot.”

GRAHAM Haywood has been appointed as director of the Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership.

Haywood, who was previously chief executive at Sefton Council and North Tyneside Council, has been appointed to drive the next phase of its economic plan forward, which aims to create 15,000 jobs in Cumbria by 2024.
 
George Beveridge, chairman of Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “Graham’s experience working on the growth agendas in Merseyside and the North East, while leading two large local authorities, will be invaluable as we move into delivering the significant investment in improving the Cumbrian economy that the LEP has secured.”

THE Heart of Manchester Business Improvement District (BID) has appointed retailer Phil Schulze as BID Manager.

The Heart of Manchester BID launched in April 2013 and represents over 380 city centre retailers.

Schulze has had a long career in retail, working across the UK and managing flagship stores for M&S in cities across the north including Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle and Leeds.

He said: “I’m really excited about being the new BID Manager. It gives me an opportunity to work with a great team and build on the amazing things already achieved such as the BID’S annual summer garden festival Dig the City and the city’s growing Chinese New Year celebrations.

“My time as general manager of M&S on Market Street gave me a real insight to the fantastic retail offer in Manchester, across both the independent and major brand stores. I’m looking forward to working with everyone across the different public and private sectors that make Manchester what it is – a leading UK and increasingly international city.”

CHARTERED surveyors Hitchcock Wright and Partners has welcomed Sean Collins-Jones to its Liverpool agency as a graduate surveyor and will work across all sectors including office, retail and industrial.

Collins-Jones, 22, studied at Liverpool John Moores University, graduating this year with a BSc Honours degree in Real Estate Management.  Prior to his new role he gained experience at commercial property advisers Matthews and Goodman.

RICHARD Ford has been appointed store manager at North West grocer’s new Burscough store.

Ford has 30 years of experience of working at Booths, beginning his career with the company at its Windemere at the age of 15.

Booths Burscough is almost 32,000 sq. ft. and is one of the largest stores the company has opened.

Ford, said: “The state of the art store is very impressive, and I think customers will be excited about our new offer. What sets Booths apart is our close link to producers and exceptional produce.”
