Appointments: Hill Dickinson; Rider Levett Bucknall; Asons & more

THE Manchester office of law firm Hill Dickinson has made two senior promotions in its corporate team.

Jonathan Gillow and David Mkhitarian have both been promoted to partner and join Ian Riggs and Ian Gillis who lead the firm’s dynamic corporate offering across the city.

These promotions follow a strong year for the team, which advised on some of the region’s most notable corporate transactions.  

Deals its has advised on  have included the £36m secondary buy out of Character World, the AIM IPO of C4X Discovery plc, the take private of Pochins and Parkwood Holdings and the disposal of VIP e-cigarette brand.

Gillis said: “It has been an excellent year for the Hill Dickinson corporate team. We’ve created a real presence across the region and these promotions underline the firm’s ongoing commitment to investing in quality people to help support this growth.”

The firm has also made a further 10 senior promotions across three of its business groups with three promoted to partner and an additional seven promoted to legal director.

TWO staff members at Rider Levett Bucknall have been appointed to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Governing Council.

Senior quantity surveyor Ben Stazaker, who is based in Manchester, was one of two candidates to take a RICS Matrics seat, which is focused on young members entering the industry and working towards their qualifications.

London partner Rebecca Best was ALSO successful in her campaign for a Global seat, gaining 5,546 votes in the recent election. The whole membership role will complement her position on the RICS UK and Ireland World Regional board.

ASONS Solicitors’ Stephanie Matthews has completed her two year training contract and is now officially a solicitor within the Bolton-based law firm.

She was previously head of industrial disease pre-litigation back ad holds the business’s record for the most settled cases in any one month.

Matthews has championed the cases of more than 50 noise-induced hearing loss victims and won every time, in addition to managing cases involving work-related leukaemia or asbestos exposure.

COMPUTER Games high flyer Carl Dalton has been appointed head of projects for the fast growing Cheshire-based technology company d3t.

The 46-year-old computer games expert who was Game Director of Oysterworld until moving to the Runcorn headquarters of d3t was previously the founder and owner of Brain in a Jar and a member of the team at Sony Psygnosis.

“My experience in the business meant that I recognised the unique blend of talents that make d3t what it is,” he said. “Everyone here knows exactly what they are doing and that is reflected in the quality of the projects handled. My role now is to oversee the production of the projects that come in and I’m really looking forward to it.

“I’m a collaborative individual myself so I’m really looking forward to working alongside such an able team,” added the father of two who lives with his family in Weaverham.

A SOUTHPORT-based law firm has bolstered its Wills and probate expertise with the appointment of Eve Austin.

Austin, a native of nearby Birkdale, joins the private client department at Birchall Blackburn Law, which is based at Cambridge Road, as a solicitor after 20 years in the industry.

Eve specialises in all aspects of wills and probate-related issues and is a member of Solicitors for the Elderly.
