NORTH West furniture firm Stokers has swoopedon a Buckinghamshire company as part of its plans for growth and expansion across the country.

Stokers, Which has outlets in Southport, Ormskirk and Chester, has bought Lucas World of Fuirniture in Aylesbury. The value of the deal was undisclosed.

Stokers was founded in 1895 when Alfred Stoker established a business selling fabric and millinery in Ormskirk. It now sells furniture and wall coverings and has more than 10 stores.

Lancashire-based Forbes Solicitors and McMillan & Co Chartered Accountants acted for Stokers.

Pauline Rigby, Forbes’ head of corporate & restructuring, led the transaction with the assistance of corporate and restructuring solicitors Nick Pickup and John Pickervance along with Amy Stokes and Tim Hollingsworth from employment and commercial property respectively.

Rigby said: “We have worked with Stokers for some time and this was a perfect opportunity for them to action their acquisitive growth strategy. Stokers is becoming a household name and purchases such as this will only assist in its long term vision.”.

Douglas McMillan of  McMIllan & Co said: “McMillan & Co have been auditors and advisers to Stokers for well over 20 years and have advised on a number of acquisitions and reorganisations throughout the country.  We wish Stokers well as they develop the store in Buckinghamshire as a base for future expansion.”
