Paint firm out to build new warehouse

AN independent paint and wallpaper company has applied for permission to build a new 28,922 warehouse a short distance from its current base in East Manchester.

An application on behalf of The Little Greene Paint Company has been lodged with Manchester City Council for the warehouse and associated offices, showroom and parking at the junction of Ashton Old Road and Pottery Lane.

The £13m turnover company with a workforce of 75, which currently occupies a site on nearby Wood Street, engaged Bolton planning consulting company Dickman Associates to submit the application.

According to the submission the company is keen on “investing in East Manchester and bringing jobs into the area”.

“Moving on to this site will enable the company to add to its existing workforce,” it said.

According to latest available figures, the company made a pre-tax profit of £1.5m in the year ending October 31 2013.

No-one from the company was available for comment.
