Developer gets go-ahead fo 2,500 homes

PROPERTY developer Northern Trust has secured planning consent for more than 2,500 new houses on a mixture of green field and previously developed land in the last six months.

Six planning permissions have been approved in Lancashire covering more than 2,000 homes in Blackpool, St Annes, Kirkham, Pilling, Inskip and Singleton, while an application for 400 houses on a semi-derelict industrial estate in North Tyneside has also been granted recently.

Land executive Stephen Glenn at the Chorley-based company said: “It has been a busy but very successful six months and we are pleased to have secured the planning permissions on each of the sites, some of which have been particularly challenging.

“We have worked closely with the respective planning authorities, members of the community and other key stakeholders to deliver much need housing.

“All of the sites are quite different in scale and character, but each will bring considerable benefits, including jobs, regeneration, and investment into the areas concerned, together with addressing the
shortfall in local housing supply.”

Northern Trust has a number of other schemes currently being worked up for planning applications.

Glenn said: “Northern Trust has a long history of working up innovative planning permissions and maximising returns to landowners and developers. With a proven track record and successful disposal strategy, the team work closely with landowners, house builders and investors to bring forward high quality development schemes.

“The company is actively looking for new opportunities either as a straight purchase or on a planning promotion/joint venture partnership basis.”
