In Brief: Shieldtech director departs, new head for MYI, contract win for Souters
GLENN Hopkinson, a director of the quoted security products business Shieldtech, has left the business.

GLENN Hopkinson, a director of the quoted security products business Shieldtech, has left the business.

Mr Hopkinson joined Shieldtech subsidiary Aegis in 2002 as operations director and led a management buy-out in 2004 creating a partial exit for Aegis’ founders. When Shieldtech acquired Aegis in 2007 most of the directors left the business but Mr Hopkinson agreed to stay on for a transitional period.

Chief executive Tony O’Neill and group finance director Robert Denton have now assumed all operational and financial responsibilities. 

In a statement the Warrington-based firm said: “The board is grateful for Glenn’s support and assistance since the acquisition and wishes him well for the future.”

INTERNATIONAL loss adjuster, MYI, has appointed David Gillan as executive director to oversee the firm’s North West activities from Manchester.

Mr Gillan, a chartered loss adjuster, joins the UK executive team, which comprises Trevor Latimer, Graham Smart, Nigel Minett, Steven Wallace, Nigel Clarke and Kieran Gallagher.

After joining the loss adjusting profession in 1987, Mr Gillan became an established figure in the Manchester and Leeds insurance markets.

Mr Gillan said: “The adjusting market has gone through significant change and there is now an increasing demand for the specialist, bespoke services delivered by niche firms. Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed my time with UK Underwriting, I was keen to return to a technical loss adjusting environment and saw MYI as the market leaders in this field.”

CHESHIRE PR agency Souters has been appointed by training and development specialists CPD to implement a 12-month programme of support.
 
CPD, based in Mathew Street, Liverpool, has hired Souters to help build its brand awareness.
 
Established by James and Rebekah Ayres 11 years ago, CPD works with the public and private sector bodies including Warrington Borough Council, Wirral Partnership Homes and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

Souters’ managing director Sue Souter said: “Our job will be to build their reputation among potential new purchasers of training and development programmes. The first job has been to develop a strong brand position which reflects this highly competent, fun and friendly organisation.”
