Appointments: Well boosts senior team & more

WELL, the independent pharmacy chain based in Manchester, has made two senior hires.

The retailer has appointed David Hamilton as its new commercial director and Tracy Barton as HR director.

Well, which is the new name for The Co-operative Pharmacy, is currently re-branding 780 pharmacies in the UK following Bestway Group’s £620macquisition of the high-street pharmacy business from The Co-operative Group last year.

Hamilton has a broad experience across the UK healthcare sector and has been brought in to help shape the direction for the pharmacy chain and will focus on creating a compelling customer proposition, underpinned by the healthcare and wellbeing needs of customers.

Tracy Baron joins from Asda Supermarkets, where she was initially senior director looking after people and customer service and then senior director of organisational effectiveness, leading the people change agenda. She has  also worked for Tesco as HR Director for its One Stop Convenience Stores.

LANCASHIRE law firm Napthens has bolstered its litigation and dispute resolution team with the hire of senior associate solicitor Andrew Holden. 

Holden joins the firm’s Preston office from SGH Martineau in Birmingham, where he trained and spent more than 10 years.

A member of the Professional Negligence Lawyers Association (PNLA), he pecialises in commercial disputes, with a particular expertise in the education and energy sectors.

Iain Wharton, head of the firm’s litigation and dispute resolution team said: “Andrew brings a great deal of experience and expertise to the team, with a true understanding of the sector. Our clients will benefit immensely from his appointment.”

Meanwhile, the team is also welcoming solicitor Kelly Mather, who joins the firm’s Blackpool and Fylde office following two years working at a large Manchester firm.

REAL estate advisor Colliers International is continuing its recruitment drive with the appointment of Nick Twigg as head of building consultancy for the Northern region.

Twigg joins from Bilfinger GVA to head Colliers’ Building Consultancy and Project Management teams.

With 17 years’ experience in building surveying, Twigg specialises in city centre offices, advising clients from acquisition through to all stages of property cycle, including; acquisition advice, dilapidations, feasibility studies, refurbishment projects and asset enhancement.

In his new role, Twigg will lead teams working across the major cities of Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield and Newcastle.

He said: “As productivity and interconnection between our Northern cities continues to be high on the Government agenda, it is an exciting time to be working in commercial property in the North of England.

SAM Jones has been unveiled as vice chaior of future pro-manchester which represents the region’s young professionals.

Jones, who is also managing director of media production and marketing agency Tunafish Media, is a facilimar face in the Manchester business community.

He will work on projects which include The Made in Manchester Awards, which returns in February 2016 for a fifth consecutive year, plus a range of business focused activities.

He said: “It’s a great honour to be given this role and I look forward to supporting Chairman Sam Hall over the next year.  As an organisation future pro-manchester has given a lot of aide and support to my own business and I hope to help other young businesses in the region in the same way.”

ROBIN Jones has joined CBRE’s Manchester office as assistant planner.

He joins CBRE’s expanding North West Planning and Development division which will have doubled in size by the end of 2015.

Jones will be assisting the team in the delivery of large-scale, complex, residential, commercial and mixed use schemes for a variety of private and public sector clients.

MANCHESTER-based law firm gunnercooke has announced the appointment of three new senior partners to its rapidly growing team.

Shilpen Savani joins from DWFM Beckman where as a partner he specialised in high-value commercial dispute resolution and employment law.

His diverse client base includes SME businesses, designer fashion brands, a global private equity firm, professional clients and senior executives in the financial and media sectors.

Real estate lawyer Benjamin Zatman moves to gunnercooke’s Manchester office following 10 years at BBS Law. Working closely with a broad range of financial and third sector clients, Zatman’s portfolio covers commercial acquisitions, sales, secured lending, as well as advising landlords and tenants.

Saad Ahmed, former partner at both Ward Hadaway and Hill Dickinson, specialises in UK and international corporate and business tax. He will also join the team in Manchester to provide advice on corporate transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, share options and complex restructuring.
