Appointments: CFO for NRL; gunnercooke & more

NORTH West based NRL, which provides recruitment, training, rail maintenance and testing services to the technical, engineering and construction sectors, has appointed a new chief financial officer.
The group which has its main office in Wigan, has hired Ben Humpage, previously finance director of Preston-based Johnson’s Dry Cleaners, for the role.
Humpage will be working closely with chief executive Andrew Redmayne and the other members of the senior executive board to develop and implement the appropriate strategy for NRL’s next phase of growth.
Redmayne said: “NRL has grown significantly over the past three years increasing turnover from £87m in 2012 to £172m in 2014. This growth, along with changes in leadership has reshaped the business and the addition of Ben to the senior management team will ensure NRL’s future growth and success.”

LAW firm gunnercooke has appointed three partners.
The newcomers are: Shilpen Savani who joins from DWFM Beckman where, as a partner, he specialised in high-value commercial dispute resolution and employment law; real estate lawyer Benjamin Zatman who spent 10 years at BBS Law and Saad Ahmed, former partner at both Ward Hadaway and Hill Dickinson, who specialises in UK and international corporate and business tax.

ACUMEN Financial Partnership, a IFA firm, based in West Lancashire and Liverpool, has appointed an experienced financial adviser.
The latest recruit is Jenny Jones, from Wirral, who has more than 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry at Royal Life Insurance in Liverpool before moving to Griffiths & Armour.

ENGINEERING, design and sustainable solutions specialist for the built community Cundall has appointed Lee Leston-Jones to its Manchester office as partner leading the expanding structural engineering team.
Leston-Jones has more than 20 years’ experience working in Europe, the Middle East and Asia across all sectors on large scale projects and frameworks.
Prior to joining Cundall, he was a director at Ramboll for 12 years. Leston-Jones is also a visiting tutor at the Universities of Manchester, Sheffield and Newcastle; in both the schools of Engineering and Architecture.

ASONS Solicitors in Bolton has welcomed Scott Nolan as its new internal auditor.
The firm, which specialises in personal injury, medical negligence and industrial disease claims, has recruited him to evaluate the business’s operational processes and recommend measures to improve efficiencies.
He is the first of four key new recruits that the expanding firm is announcing to coincide with the beginning of construction on its headquarters in Bolton’s Clarence Street.
Nolan has extensive legal industry experience gained across the last 15 years, having joined Asons from Backhouse Jones, a logistics and transport law firm based in Clitheroe, where he was claims manager. He has also held roles as a defendant litigator and team leader with Irwin Mitchell and Plexus Law.
Nolan said: “I am delighted and excited to be selected to accommodate this new position within a firm that shares my ambition.”

MANCHESTER-based social housing regeneration consortium Procure Plus following internalisation of the finance service, has introduced three new employees to its team to support the company’s future growth plans.
Alan Lomas, Dawn Dickenson and Luke Thornton all join the company to bolster its services and support the business in delivering best value to social housing providers across the North West.
Previously head of finance at the Manufacturing Institute, Lomas will lead the internal finance service. He will use his background knowledge in procurement, grant applications and investment justification to evaluate the budget of projects and tenders, ensuring that all customers are receiving the excellent value for money.
Dickenson, who has more than 30 years’ experience in the financial sector, will be working closely with Lomas and the wider team to undertake operating and budgeting analysis in addition to improvements to the company’s internal IT systems for greater efficiency.
Thornton will draw on his knowledge in customer and supplier liaison in this new role. Hisa experience will also support the finance team to continually improve ways of working.
