Decision on Lime Street revised plan soon

REVISED plans for the regeneration of the east side of Lime Street are due to be considered next week by Liverpool City Council’s Planning Committee.
The mixed-use vision comprises a new hotel, shops, restaurants and student accommodation and aims to bring vitality and a radically improved visual aspect to the block between the historic Vines and Crown pubs.
The proposals for the redevelopment of one of the city’s key gateway sites were substantially revised by develoer Neptune following concerns about the original designs, and have been subject to intensive consultation over the last two months.
Neptune Developments managing director Steve Parry said: “We have taken the opportunity to rethink the scheme and listen carefully to those who were critical of the initial designs.
“I’m delighted that the new designs have had a generally positive response and have been backed by organisations like the City Centre BID, The Save the Futurist Campaign, The St George’s Quarter CIC and many other stakeholders.
“It’s also pleasing that the balance of public comments on media forums and on our own Lime Street Future website have been positive and constructive.
“There has been strong support for the dynamic urban character of the design and the lighting element which recaptures an essential part of Lime Street’s historic identity and ambience.”
Neptune and partners Regeneration Liverpool are hopeful that Councillors will approve the plans and that work on the transformation of this part of Lime Street can begin quickly.
Liverpool City Council Planning Committee meets on Tuesday, August 11, and if approved work on the project is scheduled to start before the end of the year.
