Corn Exchange appoints general manager

MARK Schofield has been appointed as the new general manager of Manchester’s hisoric Corn Exchange which has undergone £30m redevelopment.

Schofield has more than 30 years’ experience in retail, shopping centre and customer services sectors and his appointment coincides with the pending opening of up 12 new restaurants in the  Grade II-listed building which has been revamped by Aviva Investors and Queensberry Real Estate.

He said: “I’m very excited and honoured to be appointed as the new general manager .

 “The iconic Grade II listed building is a real historic treasure within the city and has seen a huge transformation.

“With an eclectic mix of cuisine, including two of London’s most popular restaurant brands, Wahaca and Vapiano, who open their first sites outside of the capital, I’m sure Corn Exchange will quickly establish itself as a key dining destination within the region.”

Simon Green from Corn Exchange owners Aviva Property Investors Trust said: “We’re delighted to welcome Mark on board and we’re certain he will prove to be a brilliant asset to Corn Exchange. Mark brings with him a wealth of experience that will be invaluable in ensuring Corn Exchange is the food and drink destination of choice in the region.”
