Globus picks up £7m protective clothing firm

SAFETY glove manufacturer Globus has acquired a Scottish business, expanding its product range and geographical presence.

The Trafford Park-based group has added around £7m in sales and 60 people to its workforce with the purchase of Alpha Solway. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Globus, which in the year to May 2014 had revenues of £23.3m, said the deal Alpha Solway, which is based in Dumfriesshire, would allow it to deepen its position in the personal protective equipment sector.

Alpha Solway manufactures and supplies specialist chemical protective clothing and disposable respiratory products.  Its products are available throughout the UK, Europe and the Rest of the world. All Alpha Solway’s facilities and staff will remain following the acquisition.

Globus will maintain Alpha Solway’s offices which will run alongside its own headquarters in Manchester and regional operations in Dubai.

EY provided financial due diligence services and Eversheds provided legal advice to Globus.  North West law firm Brabners provided legal advice to the vendors.
