Pochin’s gets £10.2m build for T J Morris

NORTH West construction and property specialist Pochin’s has been awarded a £10.2m contract to build a 103,00sq ft development in Liverpool for T J Morris.

The discount retailer, which owns fast-growing brand Home Bargains, has asked Pochin’s to create three new buildings at its head office complex at Portal Way.

The development, which will provide an extension of T J Morris’s existing presence at Axis Business Park, will see Pochin’s build a 67,000sq ft distribution warehouse, alongside a 19,00sq ft staff gym and leisure facility, and a 17,000sq ft vehicle maintenance unit.

Due for completion in August 2016, the project involves the collaboration of Pochin’s, planners Liverpool City Council, and AJA Architects.

The announcement follows recent confirmation that Pochin’s will build a new 237,000sq ft commercial development at Trafford Point, as well as the Rooftop Gardens residential development in Castlefield, Manchester.

Managing director of Pochin Construction Jonathan Pochin said: “Securing a project of this size with one of the UK’s largest privately owned companies is testament to the calibre of work Pochin’s is currently undertaking.

“This is our third £10m-plus contract in a matter of weeks, and we’re extremely pleased to see our project pipeline expanding with industrial, residential and commercial properties across the North West.”

T J Morris operation director Joe Morris added: “As a member of The Sunday Times Fast Track 250, we are constantly looking for ways to improve our offering to our clients as well as our staff. These new facilities will significantly enhance our distribution capabilities.”
