Housing Units sets course for £30m turnover

FAMILY-run Housing Units, the home furnishing centre based in Failsworth, Manchester, has reported a 6.7% increase in turnover and is on course to reach its £30m turnover target by the year end.

Results to the end of March report a 56% increase in underlying earnings to £2.395m and £1.85m of pre-tax profit – a 43% uplift from the previous year’s figures.

A focus on consistent customer service and increasing footfall to its onsite Wickentree restaurant is reported to have been the catalyst for boosting revenue.

The results follow news of continued site investment and development plans in the upcoming year. A further 20 jobs will be created to meet demand the expansion will bring, with a planned recruitment drive to get underway in 2016.

Adding to the success, the store has recently launched a new, modern website to accommodate the uplift in its customers shopping online.

Housing Units merchandise and marketing director Nick Fox said: “Whilst focusing on our updated online offering, our offline shoppers coming to the store still remains important with a high proportion of our customers still looking for that total shopping experience.

“Business throughout the start of the 2015/2016 financial year has remained strong, with sales up by 13.9% in the first 26 weeks of the year. We’re delighted at the progression and step forward the business has taken. With exciting plans in the pipeline, we’re looking forward to another challenging yet rewarding year ahead.”
