Luxury sofa maker launching in London

LUXURY sofa manufacturer Newman and Bright has expanded its Manchester headquarters and showroom and will be launching its first London store in the coming weeks.
Newman and Bright is a family operation from Salford which has been in the bespoke leather and furniture business since 1897.
One of the few remaining such companies in the North West, it serves corporate clients such as Hilton Hotels, the V&A and the Ministry of Defence, and has recently been appointed to help furnish Marco Pierre restaurants throughout the UK, including the new Chophouse Birmingham and Mercure, London Bridge.
A boom in consumer growth, however, has led to the expansion.
The Manchester showroom is now 5,600sq ft and is attached to the manufacturing plant on the Manchester Road in Walkden.
The new London outlet, meanwhile, is near to Brent Cross, in North West London and will offer customers high grade Italian upholstery along with the company’s existing diverse selection of contemporary and classical designs.
Owner Sam Neumann said: “Our customers travel to us from all over the UK and we have noticed a steady increase in consumers coming from Scotland and London to our Manchester headquarters.
It has therefore been a logical step to expand our space in Manchester, and we’re delighted to be launching in the Capital to serve our growing Southern business.”
Interior design and trend specialist Lynn Carlin provided the company’s new retail concept, which is being rolled out in both locations.
“Newman and Bright have an incredible heritage and we’ve demonstrated that very clearly in the Manchester showroom,” she said.
“We’ve made a feature of the leather cutting area, as it’s fascinating to see skilled craftsmen at work, whilst individual areas show off the range of sofas in a very consumer-focused environment, using the styles and textures of the products themselves as inspiration.”
