People: Grant Thornton; Mason Williams; Dominvs

ACCOUNTANT and business adviser Grant Thornton has made three appointments to its Manchester-based tax team and promoted four others.
Liz Smith and Nick Harrop, both senior managers, have joined from Deloitte and Afford Bond respectively. Another senior manager, Brian Nolan, has transferred to the Manchester from the firm’s Dublin office.
Caroline Hadfield, meanwhile, has stepped up to tax director, with Matthew Allen, Alex Hall and Matt Foddy all promoted to senior managers.
North West of tax, Karen Campbell, said: “There’s a great belief within the firm of investing in talent and these appointments and promotions are part of our growth plan. It’s great to welcome Liz and Brian aboard and to have Nick back in the fold, who was with us prior to his last position.”

MANCHESTER PR agency Mason Williams Communications has announced a “dream team” who join the agency this month.
Janine Limb has moved from London to be a senior director in the Manchester office. Previously she was heading up an art, culture and lifestyle agency.
Virginia Webb also joins the agency as a board director following her recent success launching the Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London.
She has been working in the hotel, hospitality and travel industry for over fifteen years and joins from the Massey Partnership.
Senior managers Rose Allerston and Lauren Broughton complete the senior appointments with backgrounds spanning culture, arts, tourism, hotels, hospitality and family sector brands.
Rita Rowe, founder and managing director at the agency said: “Mason Williams has been fortunate in winning a number of new accounts in the recent months which has enabled us to seek out and attract some of the best directors and senior managers working in communications today.”

PROPERTY investor and developer Dominvs Group, has appointed a general manager for its new Holiday Inn hotel and conference centre in Manchester, developed under the Dominvs Hospitality banner.
Experienced operator David Daly, who has 30 years’ experience in the sector, joins Dominvs Group from Jupiter Hotels where he worked for five years. He began his career started at Forte Hotels before moving to Moat House in Gatwick where he worked for six years, then to Thistle Hotels, based in Liverpool, for a further six years.
Daly said: “I am delighted to be bringing Holiday Inn to the heart of Manchester, the second city of the UK. Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has a fantastically loyal customer base and we are extremely pleased that we can now offer the option of the Holiday Inn in the centre of Manchester, right on the doorstep of Piccadilly train station.”
The 165,764 sq ft Holiday Inn is currently being constructed by McAleer & Rushe and the building is due for practical completion in March 2016. Dominvs Group acquired the site in 2013 for the development of a new 298 bedroom, 4-star hotel, restaurant and conference facility.
