THE rural team at Lancashire law firm Napthens has expanded with the appointment of solicitor Diane France.

France, who is qualified as both a barrister and a solicitor, completed her law degree at Lancaster University, before training at Keoghs in Bolton.
 
As part of the team at Napthens’ East Lancashire office in Blackburn she will support clients by advising on a range of matters relating to the rural sector, including land and property purchases, option agreements and agricultural tenancies.
 
Andrew Holden, head of the rural department at Napthens, said: “Diane joins us with a true understanding of the issues affecting the rural industry, having grown up on a farm where she is still playing an active role.
 
“Her rural background and in-depth knowledge of the day-to-day business of running a farm strengthen our team and truly benefit our clients.”

Napthens is one of only 16 NFU Legal Panel firms in the country. The work of the rural team has also been highlighted in respected industry guides Chambers and Legal 500.

MANCHESTER-based Interior architecture and furniture, fittings and equipment (FFE) consultancy SpaceZero has appointed Paul Cunniff as its new finance director.
 
SpaceZero recently celebrated its sixth anniversary and has worked on more than 200 projects and in its current financial year currently turning over £32m in FFE.

Cunniff was appointed to oversee the company’s future growth strategy, assist with forecasting and budgets, and to work closely with the board on all aspects of finance across the business.  
 
He  has 17 years’ experience working in finance and is a qualified accountant,  and has worked as finance director and managing director at a software and events tech business in Manchester for three years before joining the SpaceZero team.
 
Prior to this, Cunniff was a partner at chartered accountants Cowgill Holloway for eight years, during which time he offered accountancy and finance support to SME businesses in the construction sector.
 
He said: “I am excited to be joining SpaceZero at a time when the company is experiencing a period of growth, having developed from infancy over the last six years. Wayne’s passion and vision for the future of the business is very clear, well thought out and ambitious, which was a major factor in me taking the role.”

BEBINGTON Glazing has welcomed two new apprentices as part of on-going company expansion.

Tomas Gray, 21, has joined the team as an Administrator alongside Josh Aston-Bowen, 17, who has undertaken the role of a Glazier.

The Wirral-based firm introduced an apprenticeship scheme in 2014 and has since seen its first two trainee members of staff join the team in permanent roles.

Managing director Kay Finlay said: “Here at Bebington Glazing, we think it is crucial to provide high-quality training programs for young people.

“This allows the next generation of employees to learn their trade under skilled professionals, ensuring that they each finish their apprenticeships with a wide set of applicable work-based skills.”

LISA Carter has joined Meliá Hotels International, the group which operates the Innside Manchester hotel at First Street as global account manager.

Carter will work with the hotel’s general manager Adam Munday and director of sales Nikki Corcoran to develop the hotel’s international business.

She joins Meliá Hotels International at a time when the company is undergoing an aggressive expansion strategy.
