£15m investment into 135 homes to go ahead in Oldham

OLDHAM will soon benefit from £15m worth of investment after housing and regeneration specialist Keepmoat’s proposals to deliver 135 new homes in Limehurst Village were unanimously approved by the town’s planning committee.

Keepmoat is anticipated to start work on site in the New Year and the delivery of the scheme is part of the far-reaching ‘Vision for Limehurst Village’.

The 10-year programme is being delivered by Oldham Council and Regenda, which aims to improve the environment, housing, recreation and employment opportunities within the neighbourhood.

The development, also called Limehurst Village, will provide a range of modern and affordable new homes for private sale and widen housing choices available in this part of Oldham.

Working in partnership with the council and Regenda, Keepmoat has committed to continue investing in the wider regeneration work in the village, including key community initiatives, and improvements to the sport pitches at Higher Lime.

Martin Davies, director of development at Regenda Homes said: “This is excellent news for the whole community.  It will bring investment in new homes and jobs to help the continued long term transformation of Limehurst that Regenda works in partnership to achieve.  Local people and families, local schools and services will all benefit from this regeneration programme.”

Cllr Dave Hibbert, cabinet member for housing, planning and transport, said: “The construction of these properties will transform Limehurst Village.  Keepmoat has worked with us on a number of projects over the last few years and the finished properties will provide good quality family homes.

“Large scale building projects like this, and other construction schemes, such as the successful ones at Derker, St Mary’s and Crossley, are transforming housing estates across Oldham and providing a boost for the borough’s construction industry.”

Gareth Roberts, operations director at Keepmoat in the North West said: “We are extremely pleased to be able to continue our track record of delivery in Oldham, working closely with both Oldham Council and Regenda.  These new homes will provide a high-quality housing offer that will deliver real choice within Limehurst and perfectly complement the ambitious vision for the neighbourhood.”
