Law firm chief executive dies at 56

TRIBUTES have been paid to Cheshire businessman Andy Duxbury, who has died suddenly aged 56.

Duxbury, a married father of three sons, was chief executive of Chester law firm Aaron & Partners and also heavily involved in the wider business community as chairman of the Cheshire branch of the Institute of Directors from 2009 to 2012.

In a statement Aaron & Partners said its partners and staff are “deeply shocked and saddened” at learn of his death.

The firm said: “Andy has been Aaron & Partners’ chief executive since 2006, one of a select band of non-lawyers at the helm of a commercial law firm. Aarons was established as a successful and respected firm by Julian Aaron and then Simon Carter (Andy’s predecessors as managing partners), and Andy consistently maintained and built on that good work with patience, commitment and good humour.

“Andy was generous with his time, enthusiasm and business acumen, serving as chair of Cheshire Professionals and a member of Cheshire Business Leaders, as well as being an active member of the Cheshire branch of the Institute of Directors. Andy will be greatly missed by us all and our thoughts are obviously with his family.”

He was educated in Blackburn and at Leeds University. Before joining Aaron & Partners, Duxbury worked in marketing and business development roles for other law firms and busineses including the RAC, Bevan Ashford and Cobbetts.

Other tributes came from West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce, which described him as a “huge supporter of local business”, while law firm marketeer Scott Hadden said he was  a “genuinely lovely man and a great mentor.”
