Liverpool’s Albert Dock changes hands

LIVERPOOL’s historic Albert Dock has changed hands in a £43m deal.

Aberdeen Asset Management has purchased the Unesco heritage site from the Albert Dock company, a subsidiary of developer Arrowcroft .

The former working dock, built in the 1840s at the peak of Liverpool’s shipping success, was renovated from dereliction by Arrowcroft in the early 1980s. It is home to the largest collection of Grade I-listed buildings in the country.

The deal includes 400,000sq ft of both commercial and residential property, including hotels, shops and museums, such as The Beatles Story.

The asset also includes the Tate Liverpool and the Maritime Gallery, and is where the This Morning daytime TV show was broadcast in the 1980s and 1990s.
