NCP gets Stockport car park contract

STOCKPORT Council has appointed NCP to operate two major town centre car parks, following a competitive tender process.

From Monday, NCP will take over the management of the 815 space Merseyway car park as well as the operation of the new 360 space car park that will be opened in 2017 as part of Stockport’s new town centre retail and leisure development – Redrock.

The contract will see Stockport Council continue to control parking tariffs.

In addition, the free Sunday parking offer will continue until the end of March.
Cllr Martin Candler, executive member for supporting places at Stockport Council, said: “As a Council we are working hard to ensure Stockport becomes an even better place to live, work and visit.

“Our Investing in Stockport programme will see significant changes made within the town centre and it is important that high quality parking is available for residents and visitors as they come to the town to discover all that is on offer.

“I am pleased to welcome NCP to both Merseyway car park and the future Redrock multi storey car park and am confident they will provide an excellent service for visitors.”

Head of operations for NCP, Steve Dey, said: “We really support the local community within Stockport, and are looking forward to working hard to ensure these car parks will offer the best service possible to the customers who visit them.  Having staffed car parks is extremely important to us, so the customer can actually see that we are on site and here to help if they need anything.”
