Barclays creating 300 jobs

Barclays launch fund

BARCLAYS is creating 300 jobs in Liverpool following a major transformation of its contact centre at Wavertree Technology Park.

Barclays said the £15m investment underlines its commitment to the Liverpool City Region.

Some of the new positions being created are part of Barclays’ roll-out of its video banking service, which allows customers to speak face-to-face with advisers via their computers, smartphones and tablets, 24 hours a day, in addition to growing its mortgage servicing capability.

Barclays Contact Centres director Simon Separghan said: “The new opportunities are available for both existing colleagues and those looking to start their career with Barclays. We are hugely excited to be able to offer a whole range of career opportunities across our Liverpool centre.

“A full range of roles have been created from management to customer facing positions. Applicants do not need to have previous contact centre or financial services experience just a passion for creating outstanding customer outcomes and the right values for Barclays as a business.”

As a result of this significant transformation, colleagues and visitors will benefit from a modern, collaborative working environment supported by new technology.

In addition, and for the first time, Barclays will also offer the facilities for community groups to use free of charge.

Luciana Berger, MP for Liverpool Wavertree, said, “This investment and the job opportunities it brings are a major vote of confidence in the Liverpool Wavertree constituency and the wider city.

“It is one of a number of important economic investments in the city over the coming months and years. Liverpool Wavertree is very much open for business.”
