Stellar performance for Science in Sport

EAST Lancashire-based sports nutrition company Science in Sport is reporting an 18% increase in sales to £9.45m in the 12 months December 31 (2014: £8.03m).

The AIM-listed Nelson company said sales growth was particularly strong in international markets, from its own online operation and from third-party e-tailers.

The first quarter of 2016 sees the launch and roll out of the company’s WHEY20 protein product, which will be distributed in about 1,170 multiple grocer outlets by April.

In addition, about 400 independent cycle shops, High Street retailer Decathlon, and both company and third-party e-commerce websites will sell the product.

Meanwhile, the company  terminated its master distributor agreement with SiS Asia Pacific in December, and has set up a wholly owned subsidiary to develop directly the SiS brand in the Australian market, managed by an in-market commercial team.

A statement said: “The board remains confident of continued strong growth in 2016 and beyond.”

SiS intends to issue its full year results on Tuesday 22 March 2016.
