Reality star joins Clarkson on ‘most searched for’ list

CHESHIRE businesswoman turned reality TV star Dawn Ward’s new found fame from ITV show The Real Housewives of Cheshire has made her one of the 10 most searched for company directors in the UK.

According to Creditsafe UK, Mrs Ward, who has made a career from interior design and works with a number of fellow footballers’ wives, is up there with colourful motoring journalist Jeremy Clarkson, Dragon’s Den entrepreneur Peter Jones, Lord Sugar, Newcastle United owner and Sports Direct founder Mike Ashley and Michelle Mone, the founder of underwear brand Ultimo.

Creditsafe, which claims to be the world’s most used provider of online company credit reports, says Clarkson, was its most searched- for company director in 2015. The presenter hit the headlines in March following a fracas with a Top Grear producer, which led to his sacking from the popular show.

Clarkson is a listed director of Chump Holdings Chump Productions and W Chump & Sons Limited.  The other directors of the companies are his former Top Gear co-hosts James May, Richard Hammond and former executive producer Andrew Wilman.

Mike Ashley, the British tycoon who started Sports Direct after leaving school in 1982 and who became a billionaire after the company went public, is a new entry at number nine in the most searched list.

After spending most of December in the news for all the wrong reasons, the spotlight was firmly on Sports Direct for its controversial working practices following an undercover newspaper investigation.

Dawn Ward is a director of Bilton Ward Developments. Her increased profile thanks to the Real Housewives of Cheshire earned her eighth place on the list.

New entries include Russell Blaikie (at number three) who oversaw a pre-pack deal to try and save Statestrong Products, a North West manufacturer of aerosols, bottles and tubs in 2014 which entered administration again in October last year.
