Fruitful start for Peach Law

LAWYER Lindsey Bell has made a flying start with her employment law and HR consultancy Peach Law.

Bell, a former partner and head of employment at the Manchester office at national firm Clarke Willmott in Manchester, who also spent three years at JMW Solicitors, launched her south Manchester-based venture in October 2014.

Having launched Peach Law from her home, she now has offices in Cheadle Hulme and three staff, with a fourth person joining in April. Her most recent hire is human resources expert Carrie Cosgrave, whose recruitment adds a further string to Peach Law’s bow.

Bell explains: “I am passionate about client service and with employment advice businesses often need HR support and advice, and we can now offer this.

“Peach Law is different. We’re not a regulated law firm charging clients a high hourly rate, nor are we a low cost commoditised operation, but sit between the two, giving good quality advice at a fair rate.

As well as the hire of Carrie Cosgrave, who has joined from an electrical engineering company, Peach Law has won a significant contract from  Rethink Recruitment Group, a national recruitment firm with 200 staff and turnover of more than £100m.

Chief executive Andy Lord said “ We are excited to be working with Peach Law who offer us a bespoke service providing us with quality HR and employment law support.  They are unique in their offering and I am sure many other companies will benefit from their expertise.”

Bell describes the last 15 months as a “rollercoaster of emotions and challenges” but says she has no regrets about leaving Clarke Willmott and life as a partner in a national law firm.

“Naturally lawyers are cautious, they are not risk-takers, so going on your own will not suit everyone. I do get calls though from people in firms who are thinking about doing something different and are fed up with being a cog in a wheel.”
