County Council selling off college site

LANCASHIRE County Council is selling a 25-acre site in Burnley for residential development.

Lancashire Regeneration Property Partnership, a joint venture between LCC and Carillion, has strategically promoted the site to the west of Kiddrow Lane (A646) between Burnley and Padiham, and adviser CBRE is now seeking interest from parties looking to redevelop.

The land was the home of Blessed Trinity High School and Ivy Bank Business and Enterprise College and there is open space in between the two education facilities.

Burnley High School is to be relocated to the land north of the subject site, formerly Hameldon Community College, which has been cleared and planning permission for the development was granted on September 29 2015.

The Hameldon site has been identified as ideally suited to residential development due to its positioning within an established residential location close to local schools and amenities with excellent links to rail and road transport.

Located to the north west of Burnley, the site is just 500m from Lancashire’s open countryside with quick access to Ribble Valley. Burnley and Rose Grove railway stations provides direct links to the city centre of Manchester.

Rebecca Harper, senior surveyor at CBRE Manchester, said: “This extensive site offers a unique opportunity to create an aspirational development in a well-connected and attractive location within Burnley.

“The redevelopment of this key site could make a significant contribution to both the long-term regeneration of the area and the local housing requirements and we anticipate high levels of interest.”
